The critical consciousness of transforming an area of fundamental importance from the socio-economic point of view, as well as strategic for the development of the city of Cogoleto, led to a design approach of strong public value.
The choice to direct the project at the sacrifice of vast private areas and finalize the highest percentage of revenue in areas and public interventions, has determined, as a fundamental choice, the subdivision into two zones of equal dimensional importance, one designed to host public services (school, Municipality, green areas, parks, public spaces, leisure centre), the other has a pure function of urban residence, neighborhood businesses and commercial activities. Furthermore, in order to identify a response to the effective criticality of car traffic along the road Aurelia, a design hypothesis of an alternative road has been elaborated, which allows to decrease the flow of traffic that divides the centre of Cogoleto from the sea.
