Fincantieri conducts its business of shipbuilding on a whole series of spaces that have been layered over the years. Some large areas are currently separated from the other by the railway line which entails a difficulty of rational use for shipbuilding and simultaneously the presence, within the urbanized areas, of a large portion of establishment.
With the reorganization plan, it’s scheduled to bring this part of production factories at the south of the railway line through the filling up of a portion of the docks, now used as an petroleum port and the subsequent construction of production facilities.
The areas upstream of the railroad, released from industrial functions, will be the occasion for a total redesign of city’s urban part, with the addition of new residential and commercial areas, a large urban park and viability infrastructures.
